Grooming at Groucho’s

Every dog comes up the stairs on Railway Street as an individual, and gets a groom that suits them. These are the appointments I book.

Grooming and teeth

Bespoke grooms
A groom fitted to your dog and their coat. Some coats need a very particular clip and style, and I’ll do the homework to get it right, the way I did for Freddy’s single, curly wool coat.
Teeth cleaning
A teeth clean with an assessment, booked on its own or alongside a groom. Groucho’s is a grooming and teeth cleaning salon, so it’s a proper part of the job here, not an extra.
Nails
Nails clipped, then filed down with a dremel and rounded off, so they’re smooth rather than sharp.
Puppy grooms
Puppies are welcome from their very first groom. One of my regulars, Ollie, has been coming since his first puppy groom at 16 weeks.

Freddy comes from Hemingbrough every six weeks

I’d never groomed a Cobber before Freddy’s first appointment, so his coat got a lot of excitement and research before he ever stepped on the table.

Around the salon

Groucho’s Grotto

In November 2024 the Groucho’s Elves set up the Grotto, and dogs popped down for a festive photo, with donations going to Ryedale Rescue.

The last two autumns brought a giveaway too: owners sent in their favourite autumn photo of their dog, and the winner got a free groom or teeth clean.
